MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — One person was killed and three others were injured early Saturday in a Massachusetts house fire, officials said.
Fire and police were called to a house fire in the town of Middlesborough around 2 a.m. with people trapped inside. With fire coming from the first and second floors, firefighters were unable to get inside the home. After the fire was contained, authorities found a juvenile female dead inside.
An adult female was transported to a Rhode Island hospital with burns while an adult male and another juvenile female were transported by ambulance to local hospitals with less severe injuries. Neither the dead juvenile nor those injured were identified.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by several agencies, including Middleborough Fire Department and the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
